hi guys!

i’ve decided to move this blog and merge it with my more personal one (easier to manage that way).

please continue to support me and this blog by visiting: http://mrskendz.com/

thank you soo much!

I went to dashing diva earlier to get my nails done (finally!)

I like dashing diva. Im amazed at the number of concoctions that they apply to the nails. Plus i love the fact that the tools they use are sterilized prior to every use! Fast service too! The only downside is, a lot of times, it’s fully booked. So your safest bet is to book in advance.

I opted to try one of the newest nail polish i got from rustans essences – deborah lippmann’s bad romance. And i must say i really really like it! I dont have anything quite like it.

I like the chunky glitters! So happy i got this color. Although a bit pricey 😦 will post an update on how long it lasts on my nails 🙂

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

summer is here! it’s time for those “waterproof” makeup to take the limelight 😉

sharing my favorite products that i usually take with me and wear when i go to the beach. NOT all at the same time ok? haha

20120314-185948.jpgi’ve put in foundation, tinted moisturizer, cheek tintssssss, eyebrow liner, eye liners and lipstains 🙂

20120314-190004.jpg

for eyebrows, i like to use my K-palette real lasting eyebrow liner because it really lasts a long time and usually doesnt budge! i usually don’t wear eyeliner if i know im hitting the water, but for lounging and what not, i sometimes do. i prefer the MUFE aqua eyes (in dark purple) because it looks less over the top (what? you’re wearing make up to the beach?) and really highlights my brown eyes. but if im going clubbing and i know ill be sweating in the humid beach weather, i like to wear my k-palette real lasting eyeliner 🙂

20120314-193836.jpg

for cheeks – as you know i loveeee me my blushes 🙂 there are times where i skip all makeup and just wear blush to the beach. here are my favorites bench’s pretty when pinched cheek & lip tint (cheap and very effective), benetint’s benefit (the MOST coveted lip & cheek tint), tarte lip & cheek stains – i like this because they are easy to carry around. you dont have to worry about breaking the glass (unlike bench and benetint). and it’s sooo easy to use. you just need to swipe and blend blend blend!, theblam stainiac – perfect for carrying around because of the size! very travel friendly. although i find this harder to work with compared to the others.

20120314-192139.jpg

im obsessed with lipstains at the moment! i’ve tried the one from covergirl, but i must say that these are so much better! it doesn’t taste like ink (like covergirl) plus it comes with a lip balm. the problem i had with covergirl was it look a bit patchy sometimes and it can be too drying. these lip stains from revlon are awesome!!!!! 🙂 very pigment, build-able and definitely lasts a long time.

20120314-190020.jpg

i usually skip foundation / tinted moisturizer but sometimes, SOMETIMES, my vanity gets the best of me 🙂 my choice of products are the laura mercier tinted moisturizer and MUFE mat velvet+ (which says it’s water resistant). both products are oil free. let’s face it… lounging around under the sun will make you oily so you DONT need extra oil 😉

well that’s basically it! 🙂 oh i make it a point to wear lots of sunscreen.

hope you girls find this post useful. my nxt post will be a FOTD using these products.

oh and wish me luck… going for our teambuilding tom… paintballing! im scared!!!

where to get the products:

pretty when pinched – all bench outlets

benefit benetint – greenbelt 5

mufe – boni high street or shangri-la plaza

laura mercier – essences

thebalm stainiac and k-palette – beauty bar

tarte (available abroad)

revlon just bitten – department stores or drug stores

NARS’ description:

Pure Matte Lipsticks: Bright. Bold. Perfectly matte. This super-rich lipstick provides high-impact payoff: an ultra-pigmented, long-wearing formula that glides on effortlessly with comfortable wear.

Valparaiso: Rich raspberry

if you are a regular reader, you’d know that im obsessed with bold lip colors! 😀

i wasnt really planning to purchase this lipstick (because i seriously have too much lipsticks!!!) but when i tried it, i immediately said “yes!”

isn’t it preeetyyyy??? 🙂 i don’t think i own anything like it. the nearest i can think of is NARS funny face, but that’s more fuschia and this is a true raspberry color!

swatch:

here’s me wearing it:

20120309-163906.jpg

what i like:

– love the color! bold yet not too bright. really wearable. will suit most skin types

– i like the packaging. unlike most lipsticks, this comes in a tiny (thin) packaging that is perfect to carry around

– a true matte lipstick, if you’re a matte fan, you will definitely love this

– the lipstick has very tiny subtle silver specks in it which makes it look like it has a sheen when you put it on

– very opaque and long lasting

– color is build-able depending on your taste (sheer to opaque)

what i don’t like:

– tends to emphasize the lines and flakes in my lips. i dont have dry lips but i feel that i need to apply balm before applying this lipstick.

– expensive @ P1450 each 😦

– it’s limited edition. came out as part of the Spring 2012 collection

mrskendz verdict: ****

a bit conflicted… dont know if i want to give a 3 or 4 star rating… i admit im NOT a fan of matte lipsticks but i sooo love the color. but, for P1450, i think it’s a wee too expensive.

overall, i think because of the color, the opaque-ness and the longevity, i will give it a 4 star.

since this is really a “splurge”, i urge you to try it on at NARS counters prior to buying. but it really is truly a nice color 🙂

Aside from my haul at the supersale bazaar, i also got the following products from rustans essences and tony moly. Yes, i am in a spending mode – it’s just one of those days when you want to bury you sorrow by shopping. Naks senti-drama! Lol

Anywayyyyyy before this post gets tooo dramatic, here’s a pic of what i got:

20120308-223909.jpg

in no particular order:

tony moly face sponges (which im planning to use on the body hahaha)

laura mercier mineral loose powder in rich vanilla (for setting makeup)

NARS blush in gaeity (limited edition – spring collection) – what a LOVELY blush! i’ve tried it on several times and can’t believe how nice it looked on me!!! it’s a pale bright pink (almost pastel-ly) which i NEVER thought would work for my skin type! 🙂

NARS eyeshadow in Lhasa (lavender gray eyeshadow)

NARS pure matte lipstick in Valparaiso

Stila creme blush in Peony

Tony Moly Eyebrow Pencils – which I love! better than MAC’s and cheap too!

Revlon Just Bitten Lipstains – i am absolutely obsessed (OBSESSED) with lipstains right now! i think they are perfect for summer – think waterproof! 🙂 you can go swimming, have fun during bbq, have some drinks and the color will still be there! 🙂

trying out some of the products at the moment. will post reviews as soon as i can 🙂

what about you? any new hauls! share please – i love hauls hehe 😉

good night!

xo, kendz

one fine night, while waiting for hubby at the office (this was wayyy beyond working hours – just so you know teeheee), i decided to play with my naked 2 palette. i remember watching a tutorial on smokey eyes on youtube and decided to give it a go.

just a background – i rarely wear smokey eyes, i feel that with my dark circles and eye bags, it doesnt really look nice on me. so i try to steer clear from smokey eyes (especially black color).

anyway, here’s the end result:

please ignore the red spots on face. was extremely PMS-ing and my foundation has worn off. didn’t retouch my foundation. just powdered my face and that’s it 🙂

closeup on the eyes:

products used:

chanel vitalumiere foundation

MAC studio finish concealer in nw25 (undereyes)

MAC studio finish concealer in nc35 (on face)

Laura mercier mineral pressed powder in rich vanilla

MAC espresso on brows

NARS luster blush

UD naked 2 (blackout and chopper)

MAC Blacktrack fluidline

Mac Hug Me lipstick

Mac viva glam VI lipglass

so what do you think? 🙂 hubby seems to like it sooo might be doing more smokey eye looks. but of course cant wear this at work! haha it’s just too much. 😉

feel free to leave a comment if you have questions 😀

i’ve been using the naked 2 palette for almost 2 weeks, trying out different looks. before i go into my review, here are some pictures of the naked 2 palette as well as a side by side comparison with the original naked palette:

the colors are absolutely divine! 🙂 i think this is one of the best palette ever created in terms of color combination.

here’s a close up look of the colors:

a side by side comparison with the original naked palette (on top). as you can see, naked 2 is more cool-toned (more pinkish undertones) while the original is warmer (more brown/orange undertones).

what i like:

– lovely lovely colors

– honestly, i dont think you can ever go wrong with urban decay palettes. their eyeshadows are one of the best in the industry (for me). very pigmented and long lasting!

– packaging is sooo much better than the naked palette. i love that this came in a tin container with a larger mirror! the original one was a bit too flimsy for my taste

– i also like that the palette comes with a dual-sided brush (shading and blending). you can get away with using the brush that it comes with 🙂

– colors are suitable for work and for school and very easy to work with

– they added blackout, which is a true matte black! works great wonders in transitioning your eye makeup from day to night look (just add black on the outer v).

what i dont like:

– i find that some of the colors are not as pigmented as i want them to be 😦 works best with primer

– there are just too many shimmery / glittery colors in the palette. i would have preferred if they have added more matte colors in

– some of the shadows are similar or the same as the ones in the naked palette. it would have been better if they created a palette that will compliment the original one (and not look almost the same)

– chopper and YDK (which is a loveeely color) tends to fallout! but i discovered that if you apply primer first, such as NYX jumbo pencils, you get less fall out. oh and also make sure you tap your brush before applying your shadow.

– not much crease color; colors in the palette are more of lid colors

mrskendz’ verdict: ****

as an individual palette (not comparing with the original), ill give this 4 out of 5. why just 4? because i think they could have done better by adding more matte colors for crease. although the colors are pretty, i find that they work best as lid colors. oh and i do find that some shadows (verve and suspect) doesnt really show up nicely unless you have a good base underneath (such as a paintpot or nyx jumbo pencil)

however, i still strongly recommend this especially for people who are just starting playing or using makeup! i survived with this palette alone for two weeks (and i think i can survive for another two weeks). so get your palette now! hurry while supplies last as this beauty is really hard to get by! (got mine from digitaltraincase for P3500)

here are some pictures of me using different combinations of the shadows in this palette:

20120307-183743.jpg

MAC Painterly paint pot, booty call (lids), tease (crease) and busted (outer v)

20120307-183803.jpg

NYX Jumbo Pencil in Yogurt, with YDK (lids) and Busted (crease)

blackout with chopper on top

20120224-225607.jpg

piston (lids), blackout (crease – very lightly)

20120307-220332.jpg

suspect (all over)

20120307-184128.jpg

chopper (lids) and snakebite (crease)

nyx jumbo pencil in french fries and snakebite (all over)

hope you found this post helpful! 🙂 lemme know if you have any question.

good night!

xo, kendz

Went to the supersale bazaar last weekend and got these beauties there (from digital traincase booth).

I havent got into the nyx band wagon because i havent really tried/tested their products myself.

So going to the bazaar and trying out nyx products first hand was really an eye opener! I think i will get hooked! Good thing nyx products are very affordable 🙂

Anyway, here’s what i got:

20120305-220047.jpg

I’ll post a detailed review with swatches after i’ve given these products a go. (expect my reviews in a week because thats usually how long i try products before commenting hehe)

Will post my review of the naked 2 next. Have been trying it for almost 2 weeks with different types of brushes 🙂 im about ready to give my reviews 🙂

Thats all for now. Will be blogging more in the coming days. So please watch out for that.

Good night everyone!

I have very fine and thin hair and im scared of what my hair might look like when i get older. Thats also one reason why i keep my hair relatively short – because everytime i see hair fall, i freak out!

I also refrain from blow drying my hair and using unnecessary products. I only condition my hair once or twice a week. Reason? Because i feel that the more i condition my hair, the more i get hair fall. 😦

Right now, here’s what i use on my hair:

20120228-190402.jpg
Pureology antifade complex pure volume

This is a vegan shampoo meaning no ingredients were derived from animals plus it’s organic too! My mom got this at benchfix and i asked her if i can have it! 🙂 i think each bottle is around P800 to P1000.

Since i have very fine hair, i need shampoo that adds volume else my hair looks so flat and lifeless. This shampoo is great because it doesnt make my hair too oily nor too dry. Even when i use the conditioner, my hair still has volume and feels super soft!

20120228-190419.jpg

Kielh’s Super Thick Volumizer

This is best voluminizer ive ever tried. Had this for several years already. I dont use it all the time, but i feel that with my current hair style, added volume is a must. I spray this on my damp hair (after i get out of the shower), comb and im good to go 🙂

Sometimes when i have extra time, i fan -dry my hair 🙂

Other tips i have are:

– do not brush your hair when it’s wet, air it out or wait for it to dry a bit… brushing wet hair can cause breakage

– massage your scalp rather than scrubbing, when shampoo-ing

– my friends from Singapore told me NOT to wash my hair everyday to make it healthier and less oily. i think in the US, most people do this as well… i try to do this when i had longer hair. BUT i use dry shampoo on days when i DONT wash my hair 🙂  here’s my brand of choice (too bad they dont have this in the Philippines. i hoard when i go to SG hehehe)

Klorane Dry Shampoo

Thats about it. As ive said i try to keep simple and try not to use a lot of products 🙂

So whats your special hair product?

I just realized that i bought a number of items from @digitaltraincase over the past few weeks! Hehe im in makeup heaven right now 🙂

Aside from the nail polishes i got (refer to previous post), i also got my hands on the urban decay (UD) naked 2 palette!!!

Ive been playing with it the entire week, testing and trying to figure out if i like it as much as the original Naked palette… We’ll see… Ill post a full review next. But on top my head i can say that Naked 2 is more cool toned while the original is warmer. Also, as pretty as the colors are, i think the shadows in naked 2 are great as lid colors… But not for contouring / crease color.

Here’s my FOTD using the naked 2:
